Professional Dress Code
\Professional Dress Code
What does that entitle?
A professional dress code is usually the standard for professional settings. You may be given a handbook on what to do and what not to do but are left in the dark on the dress code. They may tell you the dress code is professional once you are hired. So can you accomplish the task without violating the rules?
Suits
Some professional workplaces want their employees to be dressed in a suit at all times. This means that it’s a suit. Not a sports coat or jacket paired with pants or a skirt. A suit can be bought many places. It should be well-tailored and fit your frame.
Shirts
Shirts are just as important as everything else. Nothing makes a person look sloppier than a mismatched, wrinkled and inappropriate shirt. It should accentuate, and not draw attention. No need to show your muscles, you are not at the gym. No need to show your cleavage, this is a professional setting.
Pants
Pants are about the same as shirts. They should fit nicely. They should not be too long or too shirt. Neither should they be too tight or too loose.
Shoes
Shoes depend on the outfit. At no point in time should you wear gym shoes though.
Cologne/Perfume
Cologne or Perfume should be applied moderately. There is nothing worse than a person who leaves a room or location and their fragrance lasts for another five minutes. People will begin to hate when you come around.
Makeup
Makeup should be applied conservatively. No outrageous colors and excessiveness.
Accessories
Accessories should be subtle and not gaudy. You are not a rap star or Hollywood entertainer. There is no need to proclaim your wealth by your jewels. It will only draw attention away from the important things at hand, which is the work you are doing.
You should know that your professional attire is just as important as the work you do. You must look the part to play the part. The dress code was meant to provide guidance and should be followed. If you are still doubtful, observe how administration dresses. You cannot go wrong if you wear similar attire as they do.
