Flip Flops At Work

\

We all know it’s summer and many people like to pull out the sandal and flip flops but these just aren’t professional attire. Growing up in the South I know that summers can get extremely hot. I am guilty of having many pair of flip flop or flip-flop styled sandal (with and without heels) in my closet. No matter how much you like them you just cannot wear them to work. Flip-flops are cute; they aren’t professional.

Can you imagine going to work and seeing your boss walking around in shirt, tie, slacks and some flip-flops? You would probably laugh and talk negatively about him. No matter which way you try to justify it, flip-flops are not and will never be part of professional attire. They are considered fun and sometimes flirty but they definitely aren’t professional. Please don’t make the mistake of thinking that since they are semi-dressy or called kitten heel thongs that they are appropriate for work.

Those kitten heel thongs above are very cute and fashionable and I would wear them on the weekend for a semi-dressy look. I wouldn’t dare wear them in a professional setting though. I believe any sandals at work are inappropriate but I’ll leave that for another post. Just take note that thongs or flip-flops at work aren’t professional. Take pride in your job and cover your feet appropriately.
