Recently, I wore a soft pink cardigan on an interview. For a different interview I wore a dark grey/ greenish cardigan. There was one thing I noticed at the interview; all the other interviewees had on bland colors. There is absolutely no problem wearing colors to an interview or to work in the professional world. Most have been taught to remain professional by wearing the traditional colors of black, white, tan, khaki, crème, navy, blue, and gray.

You can definitely be professional while wearing colors. As long as the colors are not too overwhelming you should be fine. I do not suggest wearing highly fluorescent colors, even if it is summer time. This will make you stand out and if you are not at the top of your game in your work, you may not want to stand out. This will also lead to some snickering and chattering among fellow coworkers, who are wearing the more traditional colors.

Choose your colors wisely as well. Every person has one color that complements them at all times. Trying pairing that color with a more traditional bottom and see how you shine. Many will be surprised at how wearing a non-traditional color can make you feel more confident. Colors bring life into things, so stop being dull and take a chance.
